How the travel teapot works

Add leaves to the pot, fill with hot water and cover. The built-in strainer holds back the leaves as you pour, so you do not need a separate filter. After brewing, the cups stack and the set packs back into its case. The rigid case holds its shape, so the teapot and cups are protected in a bag.

What does "jade-white porcelain" mean?

Jade-white (sometimes called suet-jade) porcelain is a trade name used in Dehua, Fujian for a very white, slightly translucent porcelain with a soft, buttery glaze. It contains no jade; the name describes the look. Like other high-fired porcelain it does not absorb aromas, so it suits almost any tea.

Who it is for

This set serves one to two people. Pack it for the office, a hotel room, a road trip, a picnic or a campsite, or give it as a tea gift to someone who travels often. Bring your own loose leaf tea and hot water.

Care

Rinse every piece with warm water after use and let them dry completely before packing them into the case, so the case stays fresh. Avoid sudden hot-to-cold temperature changes, and hand wash to protect the decoration.

Frequently asked questions

What does ice-jade porcelain mean?

Ice-jade is a trade name for a very white, slightly translucent porcelain made in Dehua. It contains no jade; the name describes its glassy look.

How many cups does one brew fill?

The largest vessel holds about 155 ml and each cup about 50 ml, so one brew fills roughly 3 cups. Gongfu-style tea is brewed in several short rounds, so the set easily serves one to two people.

Does the travel case protect the cups?

Yes. The pieces stack together and fit inside the padded case, which keeps them from knocking against each other in a bag or suitcase.
